It's Pumpkin Time!

As your beloved gourds begin to pass their prime, consider ScrapDogs as a comfortable resting place for them. Your pumpkins are welcome to accompany your bucket on pickup day, or at your local public drop-off site. We'll add them to our piles and make some sweet compost pie!

Over the River and Through the Woods: ScrapDogs in Winter

As you know, ScrapDogs pickup services are provided year-round – and that means we inevitably encounter some nasty weather! When the going gets tough and the roads get icy, here are a few things to know:

ree
  • We take our scrappy responsibilities seriously and work hard to provide collection services on our typical schedule; however, our primary concern is keeping our team safe on the road!

  • Our standard policy is to follow local school closures and delays regarding ice and snow and, on rare occasions, make the call to delay based on local conditions. In the case of delays or cancellations, we will send out an email, update our website, and post on social media with the updated schedule.

  • We always suggest leaving your bucket at the end of your driveway and close (but not too close!) to the road to minimize distance that our drivers have to cover on foot – this is particularly true during the slippery season.

Thank you for getting through winter with us! ❄️

Composter Shout-Out: University of Maine

ree

We're happy to give a shout-out to the University of Maine at Augusta campus, who have composted nearly 10,000 lbs of food scraps over the past year and a half!

Colleges and universities are often a hub for sustainable practices and change-making, but it doesn't happen without the dedicated staff and administrators who put their own time and effort into the commitment. Thank you UMA!
