Fall Compost Pre-Orders are Now Open!

Our next batch of finished compost is lined up to be screened and delivered this fall, starting September 1st. Get on the schedule today for a bulk delivery!

ScrapDogs Community Compost is approved for organic use, made from Maine food scraps, and peat-free. This compost boosts plant growth and health, retains water and nutrients, builds organic matter in your soil, and sequesters atmospheric CO2.

For fall use, we recommend top-dress existing garden beds with 1–2" of compost, mixing with two parts loam to fill raised beds, planters, or pots, or adding big handfuls to your hole when planting trees and shrubs. We do not recommend planting or seeding directly into pure compost.

Volunteer with Us!

With the help of our valiant volunteers, ScrapDogs collects and composts over 10,000 pounds of lobster shells, oyster shells, and corn cobs from the Lobster Festival in Rockland. Help us keep all that good stuff out of the landfill!

Join us for a 2- or 3-hour volunteer shift at this year's Festival and get one free month of composting, free admission to the Festival, a Lobster Festival Volunteer Shirt, and a fun time with other compost lovers!

Composter Shout-Out: Come Spring Food Pantry

Come Spring Food Pantry in Union has been serving our community for 35 years, providing nourishing food and reliable generosity since 1991!

Along with a goat farmer and others who can put it to use, ScrapDogs collects any food from the Pantry that is beyond the point of human consumption – but still shouldn't end up in a trash bag.

ScrapDogs provides composting services to food pantries and soup kitchens free of charge, so that they can put just that much more of their valuable funding towards feeding people and our communities. Know of a pantry that wants to compost? Let us know!
